Swinging for a Cause: ADAPT Community Network’s 24th Annual Golf Tournament Raises Over $200K

ADAPT Community Network held its 24th Annual Golf Tournament on May 12, 2025, at the beautiful links of Brae Burn Country Club. We are proud to announce that we raised over $200,000 to support the programs and services we provide to children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The day began with a buffet breakfast in the gorgeous spring weather. After enjoying the breakfast spread, the golfers headed to their golf carts for a weather forecast from Joel Baez, host of the Weather Report on the Wake Up ADAPT radio show. After a speech from ADAPT CEO Linda Laul, the golfers filed out to their tee-off spots. As the foursomes made their way through the 18-hole course, they encountered games like Hit the Target, where they won prizes for accurate shots. After completing the course, the golfers returned to the clubhouse for cocktail hour and entertainment from a magician.

Finally, the guests settled in for dinner. They received prizes like New York Islanders box seat tickets, new golf clubs, and more for best scores and longest drives. The individuals from ADAPT’s Without Walls (WOW) program then helped draw and announce the raffles. Congratulations to our winners!

This year, we honored Valentino Galella, president of Stop Pest Control of NY, Inc., for his longtime support of ADAPT Community Network and the intellectual and developmental disability community.

“We are delighted to honor Valentino Galella, who has provided significant support to ADAPT over the years,” said Linda B. Laul, CEO of ADAPT Community Network.

Thanks to our generous sponsors, presenters, and attendees, the sold-out event was a massive success. The funds raised from the event help us deliver programs and services to over 20,000 children and adults with disabilities and their families throughout the New York area.

A special thank you goes to our hosts Steve Lacy, Anchor of FOX 5 News at 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and our dedicated Golf Committee members: Matthew Becker, Michael Berger, Valentino Galella, Jeffrey Weiss, and Alan Zack.

“We are pleased to have Steve Lacy return as host of our golf outing,” said Laul. “Steve has worked for the past several years to help raise awareness for ADAPT’s programs and services and we are grateful to him for his dedication and ongoing support.”
