SMART LIVING CENTER
The Smart Living Center is a pioneering initiative developed to bridge the gap between emerging technologies and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), who are often overlooked in the design of health, work, and life-enhancing solutions. Despite the growing number of technologies aimed at promoting independence, there is currently no central resource where people with I/DD and their caregivers can learn about, test, and receive guidance on these innovations.
A TECHNOLOGY RESOURCE HUB
Located on ADAPT’s Stillwell Campus, the Smart Living Center will serve as an educational and demonstration center, showcasing a wide range of smart home and assistive technologies specifically tailored for people with I/DD, while also benefiting seniors, veterans, and other populations. The lab will feature a model home environment where visitors can explore and interact with technologies that promote independence, community integration, and quality of life. As a community resource, the Smart Living Center will offer guided tours, hands-on exploration, consultations, and assessments—including Home Enabling Supports (HES) assessments for eligible individuals.
