Caregivers sometimes need a break

We can help with that.

ADAPT’s Overnight Respite Program offers temporary overnight care for families who need a break from the continuous demands of caring for a family member who has a developmental disability. Our modern family home, is wheelchair accessible, and is located on the grounds of UCP of NYC’s spacious 12-acre Hausman Campus in the Pelham Gardens neighborhood of the Bronx. Families can be assured of a safe, comfortable, homelike and caring environment for their loved one. The residence is the only freestanding wheelchair accessible overnight respite program in New York City. In some cases, transportation can be provided, but if not, families are responsible for providing their own transportation.

We offer 24-hour staff supervision with nursing services to individuals with developmental disabilities as young as three years old. People supported are eligible to receive up to 84 days of respite care within each fiscal year.

Access to Respite Services is obtained through the Front Door process (OPWDD) and is open to individuals and families throughout all five boroughs of New York.
