Staff Promotions and New Beginnings

We’re excited to share some wonderful staff-related updates within our agency. Over the past few months, there have been several exciting transitions and new beginnings within different departments and divisions. These new chapters reflect the hard work, passion, and growth that drive us forward every day.

Starting with Education, Mercedes Kaufman retired from her role as Coordinator of Operations at the beginning of April. Over the past 30 years, she made a lasting impact, and her commitment shaped the agency in so many meaningful ways. While she will certainly be missed, we wish her all the best as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her life. In light of Mercedes’s transition, Education is pleased to announce her successor, Tameka Wilson, has stepped into the role of Coordinator of Operations, overseeing administrative support. Tameka brings over 11 years of experience as an Executive Assistant. In her new role, Tameka oversees the Financial Technicians in our schools, as well as the Senior Financial Analysts at Maiden Lane. With Tameka moving into her new role, Erica Smith has stepped in as the new Executive Assistant. Having been with the programs at West End Avenue as a Financial Technician for 15 years, Erica brings a wealth of experience in Excel and data programming. Lastly, Jeanine Reynoso took on the role of Financial Technician at West End Avenue. Jeanine had been an Administrative Assistant at the school for the past 10 years, and her extensive experience made her a fantastic
addition to the team.

There have been quite a few promotions in the Residential programs as well. Jerry Gbarlea was promoted from a Direct Support Professional at Castleton ICF to Program Director for Champlain/Englewood IRAs. Anika James was promoted from Case Manager at Steuben/Mosholu IRAs to Program Director at Bronx IRA 2 IRAs. Additionally, Alana Harry was promoted from Case Manager at Belsky IRAs to Program Director at Forsyth IRA.
And last, but certainly not least, Anna Choi from our Marketing Department was recently promoted to Marketing and Design Manager. Anna has been with ADAPT for two and a half years, helping our organization grow its brand, sharpen its messaging, and bring some serious creative flair to everything we do. Additionally, Mohamed Nagy transitioned from Marketing to IT as a Software Developer where he continues to showcase his amazing technical skills. We are delighted to acknowledge so many promotions from within the agency demonstrating a strong career path at ADAPT. Join us in congratulating our recently promoted colleagues as they step into new roles and continue to inspire us with their dedication and leadership. Here’s to continued success and the journey ahead—together.
