On May 12th, ADAPT’s CEO Edward R. Matthews was honored at the 2022 Schneps Media Healthcare Heroes Awards. The event, presented by Catholic Health, celebrates and honors healthcare professionals across New York City and Long Island for their contributions to the healthcare community.
Other honorees included Alan J. Murray, Chairman, President & CEO of Empire BlueCross BlueShield; Carlos Suevas, Chief Strategic Officer, SOMO; Karen ignagni, CEO Emblem Health and Pat Wang, President and CEO of Healthfirst along with another 44 people from NYC and Long Island.
We are proud to share that ADAPT Community network was the recipient of the evening’s raffle proceeds totaling $2,500.
Ed has been leading ADAPT Community Network for 32 years. He has made the organization a pioneer in providing programs and services that improve the quality of life for people with disabilities, touching the lives of more than 20,000 people with disabilities and their families each year. Matthews has overseen the growth of the agency from supporting individuals and families in four boroughs of NYC to now supporting over 25,000 families and individuals in a wide variety of services in eight counties including the Hudson Valley and employing over 3,000 staff.
“I’m in my 33rd year of my initial 5-year plan. I never feel that the work is done. There is always more we can do to help folks with disabilities live the lives they choose” Ed said. “Like all leaders, I am surrounded by people who are the best. But the key is our collective motto: Work Hard. Have Fun. Make a Difference.”
Ed’s fight for a more inclusive and equitable world for people with disabilities continues to make a difference in the lives of those we support.
