As it approaches its second year of operation, ADAPT of the Hudson Valley (ADAPT HV) continues to strengthen its ties with the local community through active participation in regional events. Recently, ADAPT HV took on a prominent role as a Centerpiece Sponsor at the Women MEAN (Mentoring, Empowering, Authenticity, Networking) Business event hosted by the Orange County Chamber of Commerce. This annual gathering, held at City Winery in the Hudson Valley, brought together women from various professional sectors to share their experiences, challenges, and successes in the workplace.
Kathleen Contreras, Vice President of Program Services at ADAPT HV, reflected on the organization’s commitment to community engagement and the importance of such events. “Our priority has always been that ADAPT of the Hudson Valley be part of the Hudson Valley community. And so, when engaging with the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, that was our goal—to immerse ourselves within the community,” Contreras said.
The event featured a keynote speech by Anna Gibbs, who emphasized the importance of setting boundaries as a leader and managing work-life balance. Following the keynote, a diverse panel discussion included women leaders from the military, public relations, corporate sector, and nonprofit organizations. Representing the nonprofit sector was Bobbi Jo Yeager, Acting CEO of ADAPT HV. Her insights into the evolving roles of women in the workforce, particularly in caretaker industries, provided a unique perspective that resonated with many attendees.
“It was a wonderfully diverse group of people coming together from so many backgrounds, and it was just a really powerful energy in that room that day,” Contreras said. “It was wonderful to actually sit in a room and talk to other women about what it’s like to be a woman in the workforce, especially in the caretaker industry.”
The event underscored ADAPT HV’s dedication not only to serving the Hudson Valley community but also to championing the voices of women in various professional realms.
Looking ahead, ADAPT HV is excited to continue its community engagement with several upcoming events. This fall, the organization will host its first art show in the Hudson Valley, celebrating two years of impactful service. As ADAPT HV grows and settles into its place in the Hudson Valley, it strives to be an active and visible member of the community.
