Interns at ADAPT can gain first-hand employment experience from a non-profit industry leader. Whether they’re aiming to be hands on with those we support, or hoping to work in an administrative setting, interns find a place within the true community that is our organization.

We offer internships in:

Program Services

  • Residential Habilitation, Family Support Services, Nursing, Clinical Services, TechWorks (Assistive Technology Resource Centers)

 

Education Services – Pre-School and School Age

  • Physical Therapists / Occupational Therapists / Speech-Language Pathologists

 

Agency Administrative Services

  • Facilities & Property Management, Finance, Human Resources / Compensation / Benefits, I.T, Marketing & Communications, Workforce Development & Training

FAQ

We offer both paid and unpaid internships through our programs

Interns must be 18 years old or older with working papers

We are happy to accommodate school credits for our interns

Yes, interns can choose which part of our organization they would like to intern in

No. We are happy to welcome anyone who would like to better understand the world of intellectual and developmental disabilities

We offer semester long and summer internships

We have opportunities throughout the five boroughs

Those interning with the individuals we support must go through a background check. Those interning in our administrative departments are not required to have a background check. 

Yes. All interns must go through a pre service orientation and on site training. 

Yes, you are free to create a schedule that best fits your needs
