Team ADAPT participates in Annual Race for Hope and Possibility

On Sunday, June 25th, a bright and sunny morning greeted more than 5,500 athletes as they prepared for the Achilles Hope & Possibility (4M) in Central Park. Program participants, staff and ADAPT Community Network supporters gathered as part of TEAM ADAPT in support for the Annual Achilles Hope & Possibility Race.

TEAM ADAPT participated in their 7th consecutive Achilles Hope and Possibility race, hosted by New York Road Runners and Achilles International in Central Park. Within that pack of racers was comedian Jon Stewart. The former host of The Daily Show has supported this race for several years, and he served as a Race Buddy for this year’s event. FOX 5 News Anchor Steve Lacy also joined in on the fun as the ADAPT Team Captain. The ADAPT team regularly has nearly 200 participants, representing families, individuals and supporters with varying disabilities.

ADAPT is proud to have a longstanding relationship with Achilles International and to participate in this race, dually supporting the mission of ADAPT, “Empowering people through innovative solutions, one person at a time,” as well as the mission of Achilles International, “To enable people with all types of disabilities to participate in mainstream running events in order to promote personal achievement.”

In line with the mission of Achilles International, the race included athletes of all abilities, giving handcyclists, wheelchair athletes, and mobility-impaired athletes their own space on the starting line.

Special thanks to this year’s sponsors: Champion Sponsor Pilot RB, Advocate Sponsors Putney Towmbly, Hall & Hirson LLP and Calfa Frank, and Friend Sponsors Robert Anzilotti, Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, NYC Health Care Staffing and MPCC Corp
