Annual day of family-friendly activities at ADAPT Community Network’s Bronx campus draws and delights a record crowd of thousands!
What a great way to unwind with friends and family! Every year, people supported at ADAPT Community Network, plus family, friends, staff, and others flock to ADAPT’s Hausman campus in the Bronx to enjoy a day full of festivities. The ninth annual Family Fun Day, held on September 14, was another huge success! In fact, it drew a record crowd, with over 2,000 attendees!
The event provided a terrific opportunity for the ADAPT community to have fun in the sun with familiar faces and favorite activities. A deejay set the celebratory mood by spinning tunes while people danced and got their face painted, posed for caricature artists, and ate tasty free food, including hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn, and cotton candy. Stilt walkers milled about, adding to the carnival-like atmosphere!
This year’s Family Fun Day for the first time, featured a rock-climbing wall, which was a big hit! Attendees also enjoyed a bouncy house, a petting zoo, a scenic train ride, and a photo booth containing a variety of costumes that they could select! Of course, Family Fun Day would not be quite as fun without the dunk tank—a staple of the event. The dunk tank once again made quite the splash among attendees, thanks to good sport Dahlian Porter, Senior Vice President of Program Services, and other brave staff who took turns trying to distract determined ball throwers from hitting the target, sending staff plunging into the pool of water!
Each year, Jackie Conley, Senior Vice President, Program Development and Community Partnerships, and a devoted group of ADAPT staff volunteers work countless hours behind the scenes to make Family Fun Day a bright spot that people supported can look forward to and never forget! And judging by the faces of those in the record crowd, this year’s event did not disappoint!
